Hidden Within Firmware 2.70

Over at ps2dev.org the guys have looked into the Sony’s new PSP firmware, 2.70. Alot was discovered in firmware 2.70, things like new modules, which are like dll files in Windows. They are what funtion the PSP’s OS(Operating System).

zshadow at PS"Dev has discovered a few new modules that Sony hasn’t mentioned.

Here’s a list:

* avcodec.prx
* game_install_plugin.prx
* iofilemgr_dnas.prx
* irda.prx
* mm_flash.prx
* psheet.prx
* usbacc.prx
* usbcam.prx
* usbgps.prx
* usbgps_serial.prx
* usbmic.prx
* usbpspcm.prx
* video_main_plugin.prx



You’ll notice that there are modules that could be for supporting add-ons for the PSP, like the Camera or a GPS.

So, will 2.70 be supporting new hardware until a new firmware is released?

What this means is, that the PSP may support serial-port based GPS adapters in the near future.
It is believed that Sony flashes all of it’s PSP systems using the serial port, and is useful for hacking various things.
Although this may be speculation, but the serial port may lead to hackers finding useful things about it. So will hackers be able to crack Sony’s firmware 2.70 for PSP?
