damn harsh bro, you cant bring into the store since water damage isnt covered.... the bet i think that you will be able to do is call up asurion and get a new one sent to you...... look at the pitmus paper on your battery and the phone and what color are they? also dry it out with something like a vent or a hair dryer blowing cool air for a lil and see what that does... take the battery and everything that comes out off so it can air more freely.

I'd drop my little cousin in some water. :D

I don't know if it will help now, but anytime you get something wet like that the first thing is to pull the battery asap. Then let it air dry for a few hours. Then hit it with a blow dryer to get it as dry as you can. I've actually had to pop the case and further dry before. Generally as long as you cut power asap and dry it completely before powering up, you're good to go.

If you still see streaks then you may want to get it replaced under your insurance. You might want to run over it with the car first though. ;)

First thing to do if that happens is to NOT turn it on. Always take the battery out and let the phone dry out. A hair dryer is a good idea. Electronics aren't really effected by water until electricity is applied, and that is when you run the risk of shorts and that is what will kill it. Just keep it warm to help dry it out.

I lost my LG Muziq after dropping it in a gallon can of dirty lacquer thinner at work (I'm a painter) it was totally submerged. After fishing it out, I immediately took out the battery and sd card, opened the i/o port cover and used an air blower all over it to dry it out (granted thinner dries faster than water, and isn't really conductive) put it all back together and it worked for about an hour. It had nasty thinner stains trapped in between the back light and lcd that shaded the screen but it still worked......but for only an hour. After that the screen wouldn't come on anymore but I could still hit the talk button and it would dial the last # dialed, lol.
What really surprised me was the fact that nothing on the phone melted, nothing. The ink inside the battery compartment came off though (the bar code sticker with esn and such) and that was it. I was up for renewal anyway so that is when I got my mogul.
Just the other day though I put the battery back in the muziq and it powered up, screen and all, but no sound. The speakers must be gummed up lol. Oh and the camera only shows a white screen otherwise all buttons and menus still work.

Ouch... damn bro that suck... and sprint wont cover under the insurance plan... there always so tricky w/ that stuff... i need to read up on that policy to know exactly whats covered and what isnt

LMAO... Id do the same!

if further damaging it in a way that is covered will work, id probably go with that..especially if its brand new... just say you were in a car accident or something

hell i love having some knowledge but trust me i learn everyday even from the noobs here :> but i rememebr how it was when i first started in the ppc game 22 months ago almost. i was as nooby as they get and was askign mad questions over at other forums (since Wckediden wasnt up) i annoyed many people with my questions and didnt mean to since all i wanted to do was learn... i look back at that and remember how nice it was when someone took the time with me to go step by step and was patient when i didnt understand something. i try to bring that to the plate her at Wckediden since no one individual here is any more important than the other. (well maby wcked since he runs the server and without the server there wouldnt be sp lmao)

Well back on topic the obvious cure for water damaged phone is PREVENTION lol I lost many phones to water or various acts of stupidity so I wised up when im out workin on truck phone in its case in pocket cant get wet get lost or scratched.

Back on track most importantly do not hit any buttons on phone you dont want to bring phone out of sleep state as more chance of electrical flowing through a soggy circuit (BAD) remove battery asap

if you can go to electronics store and buy a cell phone maint kit itl have the ultra tiny screwdrivers to open your phone.

Seperate as much as you can in the case soak the electronics briefly in denatured alcohol or isopropyl 90% do not use 70% as it has hi water content. It will act as a dry gas and remove water.

Allow 2-3 days drying time (parked car in daytime on dash works great)

pray and hope it reboots. this method worked twice for my moto q and moto q9c (wish them phones were lil better os wise they were fun)

last option have TEP and pay 50 beans for new phone

I dropped my Vogue upside down in a cup of water by accident. I was using Internet Sharing. I pulled it out by the USB cord quick, took off the battery and shaked most of the water out. I turned it on after a bit and I couldn't text or make calls and the speaker was cracking and popping. BUT Internet Sharing still worked LOL. I thought I was screwed. Luckily I had my TD (it wasn't activated yet..so guess what I did) and I activated it.

What's cool is that after a day or so, the phone worked fine again. Speakers are fine, display is the same, ect. I was planning on giving the messed up Vogue away to a friend, letting him activate it and do an insurance claim. $50 for a new Vogue was a deal. But since its ok he keeps his Muziq lol.

it may be ok right now but keep an eye on it because corrosion will start to form on the internals and it will slowly start to act up and poo on you.

So once when I dropped in a drink, I tried what I had heard worked, but that was to take the battery out and set the phone and the battery in the fridge over night. After I took it out the next morning it still was kind of acting up, but then like a day later it worked like nothing had ever happened. I guess it is supposed to speed up the evaporation process. So maybe try that.

what i would do is take the phone apart. look at it this way i would want to get the phone working again for a long time, if the warranty was going to be voided because of water damage anyway why not just take it apart and than on the parts that are visablly wet take a cutip that is wet (but not dripping) with alcohol and that will evaporate the water fast... than i place under a vent or on top of the AC to speed it along even more..... had to do this a couple of times already for my buddies and i can do it drunk now since thats when it usually happens :>

i know that if you get your phone soaked in water you can take out the battery and sd card then you set the phone in some rubbing alchohol then pull it out and let it air dry the alchohol will evaporate all the water and the thing should work as good as new i've done this a few times forgetting that my phone was in my shorts when i went surfing :connie_mykilroy:

That's assuming that the phone parts didn't short out already. It will work though, as long as everything is still intact. So its def worth a try.

I was once informed by a old co-worker of mine who said he used to work at sprint (or maybe his friend worked at sprint? anyway..) that what you should do is take the battery out of the phone, soak it (asap after getting in water) with alchohol, like 90%, then FREEZE it for 24 hours, and let it dry in front of a fan for up to 48 hours. According to him, he said that it should push all the water out of the circuitboard and evaporates it faster. And an added bonus is that (supposedly) it ALSO prevents the water mark pads from changing color? (there are some sort of markers or pads in the phone that, if it ever comes in contact with water, they change color and sprint will no longer warranty or service your phone) So its supposed to be an all around perfect fix. SUPPOSEDLY!

Remember please, I am just regurgitating information, this is all VERY unconfirmed by me. I would search more into it and attempt at your own risk :)

Btw, it's also supposed to work for all electronics. So not to just limit yourself to cell phones, anything that comes into contact with those stalking pools of water that are always waiting around corners, dark allys, your hair after a shower, to destroy your precious pricy electronics! DRAT! ;)~

if you soak your phone in alcohol the litmus paper that changes color are going to change also since liquid is liquid. and some alcohol ok but soaking it is not going to work and you wouldn't want to freeze the device with traces of water since that is going to ruin it. also if you look through the manual it will tell you not tot expose the phone to freezing conditions or tems over 110 F like your car on a sunny day... i would never recommend this and would use at your own discretion knowing that your phonee isnt going to work at all hwen your done..... but hell you have parts than right?

Yeah thats why i emphasized the word "freeze" and basically let yall know i was mostly just repeating what i heard. no clue of the accuracy. I would never try it. i like my phone to much :) maybe to my dvd player.. hate that f*$Uing thing!!
