damn harsh bro, you cant bring into the store since water damage isnt covered.... the bet i think that you will be able to do is call up asurion and get a new one sent to you...... look at the pitmus paper on your battery and the phone and what color are they? also dry it out with something like a vent or a hair dryer blowing cool air for a lil and see what that does... take the battery and everything that comes out off so it can air more freely.

I'd drop my little cousin in some water. :D
I don't know if it will help now, but anytime you get something wet like that the first thing is to pull the battery asap. Then let it air dry for a few hours. Then hit it with a blow dryer to get it as dry as you can. I've actually had to pop the case and further dry before. Generally as long as you cut power asap and dry it completely before powering up, you're good to go. If you still see streaks then you may want to get it replaced under your insurance. You might want to run over it with the car first though. ;) |

First thing to do if that happens is to NOT turn it on. Always take the battery out and let the phone dry out. A hair dryer is a good idea. Electronics aren't really effected by water until electricity is applied, and that is when you run the risk of shorts and that is what will kill it. Just keep it warm to help dry it out.
I lost my LG Muziq after dropping it in a gallon can of dirty lacquer thinner at work (I'm a painter) it was totally submerged. After fishing it out, I immediately took out the battery and sd card, opened the i/o port cover and used an air blower all over it to dry it out (granted thinner dries faster than water, and isn't really conductive) put it all back together and it worked for about an hour. It had nasty thinner stains trapped in between the back light and lcd that shaded the screen but it still worked......but for only an hour. After that the screen wouldn't come on anymore but I could still hit the talk button and it would dial the last # dialed, lol. What really surprised me was the fact that nothing on the phone melted, nothing. The ink inside the battery compartment came off though (the bar code sticker with esn and such) and that was it. I was up for renewal anyway so that is when I got my mogul. Just the other day though I put the battery back in the muziq and it powered up, screen and all, but no sound. The speakers must be gummed up lol. Oh and the camera only shows a white screen otherwise all buttons and menus still work. |

Well back on topic the obvious cure for water damaged phone is PREVENTION lol I lost many phones to water or various acts of stupidity so I wised up when im out workin on truck phone in its case in pocket cant get wet get lost or scratched.
Back on track most importantly do not hit any buttons on phone you dont want to bring phone out of sleep state as more chance of electrical flowing through a soggy circuit (BAD) remove battery asap if you can go to electronics store and buy a cell phone maint kit itl have the ultra tiny screwdrivers to open your phone. Seperate as much as you can in the case soak the electronics briefly in denatured alcohol or isopropyl 90% do not use 70% as it has hi water content. It will act as a dry gas and remove water. Allow 2-3 days drying time (parked car in daytime on dash works great) pray and hope it reboots. this method worked twice for my moto q and moto q9c (wish them phones were lil better os wise they were fun) last option have TEP and pay 50 beans for new phone |

So once when I dropped in a drink, I tried what I had heard worked, but that was to take the battery out and set the phone and the battery in the fridge over night. After I took it out the next morning it still was kind of acting up, but then like a day later it worked like nothing had ever happened. I guess it is supposed to speed up the evaporation process. So maybe try that.

i know that if you get your phone soaked in water you can take out the battery and sd card then you set the phone in some rubbing alchohol then pull it out and let it air dry the alchohol will evaporate all the water and the thing should work as good as new i've done this a few times forgetting that my phone was in my shorts when i went surfing :connie_mykilroy:

I was once informed by a old co-worker of mine who said he used to work at sprint (or maybe his friend worked at sprint? anyway..) that what you should do is take the battery out of the phone, soak it (asap after getting in water) with alchohol, like 90%, then FREEZE it for 24 hours, and let it dry in front of a fan for up to 48 hours. According to him, he said that it should push all the water out of the circuitboard and evaporates it faster. And an added bonus is that (supposedly) it ALSO prevents the water mark pads from changing color? (there are some sort of markers or pads in the phone that, if it ever comes in contact with water, they change color and sprint will no longer warranty or service your phone) So its supposed to be an all around perfect fix. SUPPOSEDLY!
Remember please, I am just regurgitating information, this is all VERY unconfirmed by me. I would search more into it and attempt at your own risk :) Btw, it's also supposed to work for all electronics. So not to just limit yourself to cell phones, anything that comes into contact with those stalking pools of water that are always waiting around corners, dark allys, your hair after a shower, to destroy your precious pricy electronics! DRAT! ;)~ :connie_mykilroy: :connie_mykilroy: :connie_mykilroy: :connie_mykilroy: love this guy... so adorable ;)~ |
