[ ISSUE SOLVED ] trouble flashing new ROM

Hi everyone, new to the forum..

I'm trying to flash Big JeW's Murder ROM to my CDMA Touch Pro. But I'm getting an error..

I copied the file to the RUU. When I go to run the RUU it gives me an error:

ERROR [240] FILE OPEN

The update utility could not open the requested file, please check your update utility.


Now, I'm pretty green so if you do know what the problem is if you could explain it in 'stupid' I'd really appreciate it!

what file exactly did u put into the ruu folder?...make sure its the .nbh file in there... and make sure ur tetherd, through active sync ... if active sync isnt recognizing ur device, or ur not fully tetherd to the pc the rom utility update will give that error

It is the nbh. file in the RUU folder. And the phone is synced through active sync and says connected.

If you cant even open it up and you are positive that the files are correct in the ruu, then it must of been a corrupt download. If you have the ruu folder, and it has the .nbh in it and the romupdateutility and such, and it still gives you an error, then I can think of little other things it may be. You can also try to right click and run as admin on the update utility if your using vista. Eventhough the utility runs as admin by default, you may want to try it that ways anyways.

and make sure you arent running any thing else in the bkgrnd while ruu is running

but if its still not working, as Supes said... it may be a corrupt download, and u may have to redownload!

Do you think maybe I should try downloading a different ROM and see if that works or gives me the same error code?

I tried running it as ADMIN, but I don't even know the admin passcode!

Even firefox? Should I completely close everything out except for the download and active sync?

yep... even firefoox... nothing should be running except for the ruu.exe

Ok, I re-downloaded the ROM and closed everything out. Tried installing again and it worked. Big thanks to everyone!
