[NEWS] Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 could come early, specs leak too

Qualcomm usually launches its flagship chipset for mobile devices in the fourth quarter of every year. A new rumor, however, suggests that the brand might launch the next generation flagship chipset, which the company might call the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, much earlier than usual.

According to a new report from Digital Chat Station, a popular tipster from China, Qualcomm has sped up the development of the next generation flagship Snapdragon 8 series SoC and as a result, the company might launch the upcoming processor in the first half of 2025.



The tipster claims that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 will use TSMC’s N3P (3nm) fabrication process, which is more advanced compared to TSMC’s N3E (also 3nm) fabrication process that the Snapdragon 8 Elite uses. The post also says that its GPU will be significantly more powerful than the one in the current generation model.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 will have two direct competitors, the Mediatek 9500 and the Samsung Exynos 2600. The one from Mediatek is reported to use TSMC’s N3P fabrication process and the one from Samsung is expected to be made on Samsung Foundry’s 2nm fabrication process, giving it an edge over its competitors.
