[READ ME] Flashing Roms Custom And Stock

trying to get a new rom for my diamomd. I installed the black theme (its great) but it runs supper supper slow with the stock rom from sprint. I am going to attempt to fix this problem installing the juicy rom. Before i attempt this im just going to let you know how I think im going to do this and please correct as needed. First I will unlock my phone using the download you provided. Then I will download juicyrom to computer. drag file from comp to windows mobile center ( using Vista ) to RUU (not shure where that is) Run romupdateutility.exe, them follow instructions. Some quick questions? will all the functions still work on phone after install ( gps etc ). Sorry for all the ? I am a newbie and have never flashed a rom or know anything about comps but im trying. thanks for all your help

NO, after unlock your phone, you download the RUU (link in first post) to your comp and unrar it. It will then be a folder named RUU. You then download the ROM and place the .nbh file into the newly unrared RUU folder. After that, make sure you are connected to your comp through activsync and have your Personal info backed up( I prefer PIMBackup) and then run the RomUpdateUtility. After that, simply follow the onscreen prompts.

Just use the green search up above and type in RUU it will bring it up for you

Okay, i feel like im lacking some serious intelligence.... i think this falls under the right category??? but im trying to get the unlocker for the htc touch pro.... all the links go to ppcgeeks, but even being a member the forum will not allow me to download the program... ive been working on this for more than a couple hours lmao... is there another way to download it, maybe using the diamond unlocker? i have the ruu program... and the rom made by Big Jew... could someone help me out finding this unlocker...

then you must be doin somethin wrong...i just DL the spl unlocker to see if the links were dead....(ppcgeeks).....and i had no problems....you might want to take this issue over there....and no...dont use anyother unlocker except the ones designed for specific phones.

hey i have a question. i want to flash a good rom onto my cdma diamond but i read on ppcgeeks that it will after unlocking it, it will reset back to the way it was once it came out the box and i dont want to lose my info like texts and i saw i could dl pmwckedackup but do i dl pmwckedack up to my phone and run it there?

When you use Pim it will save to your internal storage which after flashing does not get erased just the main memory does. After unlocking you wont lose nothing just after flashing a new rom will you lose info

ok ima do that then and after i unlock how do i get the info back? open up pimbackup, and then what? and so theres no way to save the info if when i flash a new rom its all gunna get erased? =/ or pimbackup help me there too?? THANKS in advance

all you would have to do is install the program and use the restore file you made on your card to restore your contacts and texts if wanted.... you will need to install all other compenents including apps and themes all over again....... and please if you have any more questions on pimbackup please ask in that thread so this thread can stay on topic :>

No way to unbrick a phone , if you have done that then your really have a brick an insurance wont cover the phone either

yeah they will since they dont know what caused the brick and wont be able to tell..... and its almost impossible to brick a htc phone and trust me i have tried many times and wasnt successful..... ( did everything you werent supposed to do because you may brick..)

i need help i think i alrdy unlocked my diamond when to the tricolor and all now i dled the juggalo rom and have dled it too. i extracted it and now looking for the ruu thing in my diamond and cant find it nor do i know where its suppose to be... and quick help with this guys? thanks alot

did the rom come in a folder full of files or just the ruu_signed.nbh?? if it came in a folder then no need to download the ruu since he already included it. just connect the device via activesync or place it in bootloader and run the romupdateutility.exe

does the top of your phone when in the tricolor screen say security unlocked? if not than you ARENT unlcoked..... and for the ruu i will attach it for you......

if you have a ruu folder than you are all set..... re-read through the steps and just run the romupdateutility.exe and you will be fine..... (make sure the .nbh file is in their also)

Wow, dude....pick a thread...seriously. You posted pretty much the same question in 3 differnet threads. And Im getting kinda confused cause there all worded differenty. What is in that folder, if its a bunch of files including a romupdateutility.exe, then your fine. If its just the nbh file, you still need the RUU folder.

Thanks. I hold volume down and power and press soft reset. The red green blue white screen comes on and says security unlocked Raph800 spl-0.37.... I have downloaded kaos rom and renamed from RUU_Signed.nbh to RAPHIMG.nbh. I put it on 1gb sd card and did the button thing and just goes to red,green blue screen Could someone tell me what im doing wrong. Thanks

ok did you format the card to FAT32 (deltes all data) and than jsut add the RAPHIMG.nbh file to that and than manual bootloader?

actually nope. formatting card didnt work. Now it goes from the color screen to a white screen and says loading and then checking.... and then back to the color screen

than you have to be doing something wrong or have the file named wrong or something since this is the only way i flash my touch pro.... why not jsut use the ruu folder and do it via activesync/mobile device center.

if i got a rom the way i want it and use sprite backup and back it up and flash to a different rom, can i go back to the backed up rom just by restoring through sprite or do i first flash back then restore through sprite.

No, you never under any circumstances want to restore a complete back up after flashing to a new rom. The backup wil overwrite the current roms registry and just make a mess. When you flash a new rom, only restore your contacts, messages, and appointments. Never a full restore. That makes it pointless to even flash a new rom. If you like your old rom so much, just go back to it.

how do I know when flashing is complete? Is it after all the splash screens have loaded and before it asks for all my sceen taps and customizations, or is it before all of that?? Also for some ROMs it says take out the battery for 1 min after flashing and I was wondering exactly when to do that, becasue I'm not exactly sure when a flash is complete...this might be a dumb question, but I'm just wanting to be sure.

I always take my battery out after the RUU says you are "finished", then the phone will start to "reset", I let the first splash screen appear and sometimes let the second one come up to make sure it's going to boot, then I take it out for 1 minute, put it back in, turn phone on, and you are...................as Dashy says..............."GOLDEN", I've been wanting to say that for 7 months!!! HOPE THAT HELPS ANSWER YOU QUESTION!

Yeah thats what I was thinkin, except when I tried flashing and I pulled the bettery out after the first splash screen, when I turned the phone on it only went to the first splash screen and then froze...I had to reflash a new rom and just run through all the screens and did a hard reset and everything worked fine for me that way, so I dunno where I went wrong...

yeah some roms will freeze on the first flash no matter what until you hard reset...

manually place the phone in bootloader and than tell me what it says in the upper regions of the screen

those numbers mean that you are relocked and ready to send back.

UMMMM, I did NOT relock or reflash to original stock rom before sending my mogul back to Alltel, does that mean they are going to charge me or what???? I did have to do the $95 asurion ins. claim to get my touch!

naw i dont think they will notice..... i sent a 6700 to sprint before with 6.1 on it and it was only supposed to have 5.0 on it. the bootloader is rarely looked at by any provider........

stock would be either

a) the ROM that you had on your phone when you got it
b) a stock ROM that was made for your carrier and released on htc's website

and from stock to custom would be from either of the above to a custom ROM

ok, I have a quick question on this page about the Ruu.zip files. Are these files universal, or am I looking for a specific one if I'm using a Vista computer for the HTC Touch Pro. I see the link for it in the mogul section and in the Touch section, but when I get down to the touch pro, it just says the attached ruu.zip file. If it is seperate, where can I get it from?

I've used the mogul ruu on my pro a couple times. No trouble. But most of ( the good ons anyway) the touch pro roms come with a RUU in it already
