Samsung makes one of the best (Wear OS) smartwatches on the planet. Unfortunately, that isn’t enough for the brand to top the sales charts. Apple’s Watches are more popular around the globe and preferred more widely. As such, the South Korean tech giant has always been behind the Cupertino-based tech giant in smartwatch sales.
Unfortunately, Samsung is also not the sales chart topper when it comes to smart bands as brands from China, especially Huawei and Xiaomi, offer more feature-packed products for a lower price. As such, the South Korean tech giant has always been in the fourth position in global wrist-worn wearables sales for quite sometime now. Sadly, that hasn’t changed this year either. Samsung shipped more wrist-worn wearables in 2024 than in 2023 IDC has released a market analysis on the global wrist-worn wearable sales in Q1-Q3 2024. According to the research firm, Samsung shipped 11.5 million wrist-worn wearables in the first three quarters of this year, which is much higher than the 9.3 million units it shipped in the same quarters last year. With that, it had a market share of 8.3% this year instead of 6.6% last year. That wasn't enough to gain a position on the sales chart Despite the growth, the South Korean tech giant is still in fourth place on the sales chart. In the first place is Huawei with 23.6 million shipments and 16.9% market share. Apple is the second place, with 22.5 million shipments and 16.2% market share. In the third position is Xiaomi with 20.5 million shipments and 14.7% market share. ![]() It’s worth mentioning that the wrist-worn wearable sales have dropped from 140.5 million units in Q1-Q3 2023 to 139 million units in Q1-Q3 2024. It is good to see that Samsung managed to grow even though the market shrunk. It shows that the Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Galaxy Watch 7 are selling very well. However, Samsung needs to do a lot more work to become the market leader. Speaking of which, if you are looking for Wear OS smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is the best out there. You can check it out how it performs in our video above. With Christmas and New Year discounts, now is a great time to get it. If you are looking for something more affordable, you have the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch FE.
